MARTA schedules to the Atlanta airport - Atlanta Public Transportation

Taking MARTA to the airport? Not sure how to find train schedules to plan your trip? Luckily, all the information you need can be found online, and here are two of the best options for making sure you arrive on time to check-in for your flight or meet an arriving passenger.

Google Maps

The first and easiest option is to use Google Maps. This tool lets you select your start and end address and even choose your desired arrival time at the airport.

Go to Google Maps

Click on "Get Directions"

Click on the train transit icon (second from the left) to get transit directions

Add your starting address or starting MARTA station

For the end address, use "airport terminal atlanta"

In the drop down box, select "Arrive By", then add your desired departure date and desired arrival time. Arriving 1.5 hours before a domestic flight is typically plenty of time if you have printed your boarding pass already. Inside the Airport MARTA station is also a Delta check-in kiosk, and to the left out of the station is the kiosk for AirTran.

Click on "Get Directions". Google will give you all available commute options, sometimes invovling a bus. Make sure to select the rail only option.

MARTA Website

You can also look on MARTA's website for station and commute information.

Go to the Rail Stations and Schedule page

Click on the station you will be departing from

In the gray station information box, click on "Station Schedule".

At this point you can view all the Airport Transfers train departure times from that station. You will have to know the direction of travel. Most likely you'll be heading southbound, as the Airport Station is the last station on the south line. However, if you are coming from the blue/green rail lines, you need to travel east or west to the Five Points Station and transfer to a southbound train there.

To find out how long it takes to get to the airport from your starting station, select "Line Information" in the gray box on the station page. Below the map is a list of the average commute times to the airport if you are starting on the red or gold rail line. If you are coming from the blue/green rail line, the commute times listed will be to the Five Points Station. Add 20 minutes to that time for the transfer and commute from Five Points to the Airport Station.

Key Things to Know

It is important to know that trains run every 20 minutes after 7 p.m. weekdays and on weekends and holidays. Knowing the train schedule ahead of time can help you avoid waiting and not be delayed if you should just miss a train. You can buy your fare at the station or load or buy a Breeze Card online. Look for baggage storage areas on all the train cars to leave seats open for other passengers. MARTA also offers long-term parking at some stations, so you can park and ride to the airport for $5-$8/day.
